Italian meatballs

Italian meatballs

Simple home dish, most of the ingredients you already have in your pantry. If you are too lazy to prepare meatball sauce, you can use store bought marinara and it will take even less time to prepare this meal.

For Italian meatballs (4 portions):

  • 500g minced beef and pork mix
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 3 slices old white bread
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Bunch of fresh parsley
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For meatball sauce:

  • 1 can chopped tomatoes
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Fresh basil
  1. Soak bread in milk for 10 min. To a bigger bowl add all ingredients for meatballs, except leftover milk from bread soaking and olive oil. Mix everything with your hand. Form small meatballs.
  2. Heat pan over medium heat. Add olive oil to the pan and when it’s heated add meatballs. Cook it on both sides until golden brown.
  3. Once meatballs are done add sauce ingredients. Carefully mix it, cover with a lid and let it simmer with meatballs for about 10 min.
  4. Serve over polenta with some side salads.
